Position Overview

The R&D Specialist II is primarily responsible for supporting and executing research and development initiatives, including product formulation, process improvement, testing and validation, and technical documentation. The role contributes to innovation efforts by conducting experiments, analyzing data, and ensuring compliance with internal standards and regulatory requirements.

Responsibilities

New Product Development / Product Improvement

  • Conducts lab and pilot trials
  • Monitors stability tests and evaluations
  • Analyzes data and establishes standards
  • Develops process flows, specs, and documentation
  • Performs benchmarking

Alternative Raw Materials / Supplier Development

  • Improves product quality and efficiency
  • Optimizes processes
  • Develops alternative raw materials

Process / Continuous Improvement

  • Analyzes improvement data
  • Conducts time and motion studies
  • Supports commissioning and validation

New Toller Development

  • Analyzes trial data and prepares reports
  • Sets initial production standards

Documentation Management

  • Manages R&D documents and records
  • Supports regulatory requirements

Office & Lab Management

  • Handles samples and supplies
  • Maintains cleanliness and order

Cross-functional Support

  • Supports SAP and packaging development
  • Coordinates with Marketing

Training

  • Conducts internal R&D training

Education

  • Bachelor's Degree in Food Technology or any related course like BS Nutrition and Dietetics, BS Biology.

Experience

  • With at least 3 years of experience as an R&D Specialist, preferably in a food manufacturing setup. Candidates who are high school graduates or non-related college degree holders may also be considered, provided they have 5 to 10 years of work experience in the FMCG industry.
  • Preferably GMP (Good Manufacturing Practices) Training
  • Preferably HACCP (Hazard Analysis and Critical Control Points) Certification
  • Preferably Food Safety Training Certificate (e.g., ISO 22000 awareness)
  • Preferably having a Professional Food Technologist License 

Skills

  • Hands-on expertise in laboratory techniques, experiments, and testing methods
  • Ability to develop, modify, and optimize formulations, processes, or prototypes
  • Accurate data collection, analysis, and interpretation
  • Technical report writing and documentation skills
  • Familiarity with SOPs, test methods, and validation protocols
  • Root cause analysis for technical or formulation issues
  • Data accuracy, integrity, and attention to detail
  • Ability to evaluate results and recommend improvements
  • Ability to execute assigned R&D tasks according to timelines and priorities
  • Efficient use of resources, materials, and samples
  • Ability to manage multiple experiments or projects simultaneously
