Payroll Specialist (J&F)

Position Overview
As a Payroll Specialist, on the Finance and Disbursements Teams, you'll leverage your payroll and tax skills, while also providing excellent customer service to our members and business partners. You are responsible for processing payrolls and federal/state taxes for various locations of the business. The payrolls and taxes must be processed accurately and timely, while adhering to various control points and company policies, and ensuring compliance with state and federal government regulations. This role will require ongoing learning as you stay up to date on ever-changing rules and regulations, as well as, learning new technology You will also play a key role in implementing a new payroll strategy for the organization. To be successful in this role, you will need to be committed to continuous learning, improving processes, and providing excellent customer service.
Responsibilities
- Process domestic payrolls for our various locations to ensure accurate and timely paychecks
- Correctly process garnishments, child support orders, levies, etc., to adhere to court orders and state/federal laws
- Review accuracy of tax reports/forms/tax payments/invoices etc. prepared by ADP Tax Services
- Research and stay current on payroll and tax laws (federal/state) to ensure compliance
- Provide accurate check requests to AP for payroll deductions to prevent reconciliation problems
- Participate in teams to find ways to improve efficiency and automate the payroll functions
- System testing during upgrades and regulatory changes to ensure system accuracy
- Scan documents into the electronic employee file management system
- Update procedure documentation to make certain current processes are followed
- Back-up other duties within the payroll department
- Assist with other projects, reporting, and analysis as required by the business
- Enter and manage vendor master data
Education
- Associates degree in Accounting/Finance and a minimum of 3 years of payroll or accounting experience, required; OR a minimum of 5 years payroll experience, required
- CPP preferred; aptitude/willingness to achieve would be considered
Experience
Multi-state tax and W2 processing experience, preferred
Skills
- Ability to use Excel, Word, Power Point
- Experience with ERP/Payroll/Timekeeping software; SAP and Kronos a plus
