Quality Assurance Technician – 2nd Shift

Watertown, WI

 

Position Overview

Your contribution will ensure that Johnsonville products are of the highest quality and that we continue to produce premium products. You will learn a variety of manufacturing processes and expand upon your existing knowledge for the application of making world class sausage.  There is unlimited opportunity for growth as you interact with other members of the company in the quest for continuous improvement to drive a best in the world quality culture.

 

Responsibilities:

  • Perform HACCP verifications as written in the HACCP plan.
  • Ensure the daily HACCP and quality documentation is accurate, complete, pre-shipment reviewed, and proper follow-ups are documented in SAP.
  • Train members in Food Safety and Quality programs.
  • Conduct Food Safety / Quality inspections and audits for adherence to established standards.
  • Identify, define and solve issues. 
  • Responsible for daily SSOP and GMP monitoring and reporting.
  • Represent Food Safety / Quality in plant and company-wide cross functional teams. 
  • Develop, teach and implement statistical trending applications.
  • Work with the sanitation team to ensure compliance to established company standards.
  • Perform daily lab tasks such as swabbing, plating, shelf life, sensory and result reporting.
  • Maintain/promote the management of change program for the Watertown facility.
  • Develop your skills by backing up the Assistant Food Safety / Quality Coordinator and Food Safety/Quality Coordinator.
  • Interact with USDA-FSIS inspectors on a routine basis. 
  • Play an active role during outside audits.
  • Stretch and grow your current skill sets to the next level and beyond. 
  • Be challenged to learn and grow on a daily basis.
  • Participate in incident/defective product tracking, decision-making and ensure proper documentation
  • Assist in managing hold database in SAP
  • Coordinate and assist with weekly Finished Product audits.
  • Update product procedures as needed in PLM.
  • Update SOPs as needed.
  • Learn to lead special projects involving human error reduction, standard work, continuous improvement, Company-wide initiatives, etc.
  • Perform audits of Animal Handling and Welfare program.
  • Develop, monitor, and train members on Quality metrics.

 

Education:

  • High School (GED) diploma required, some college preferred.

 

Experience:

  • 1-3 years of QA Experience required
  • Knowledge of food safety, HACCP, GMP’s and SSOP’s preferred
  • Experience working under a regulatory system, USDA preferred
  • HACCP trained or certification desired

 

Skills and Competencies:

  • Understanding of quality and sanitation systems with ability to execute against them
  • Working understanding of statistical quality tools
  • Detail oriented, responsible, self- motivated individual
  • Ability to work both independently and as a team member without direct supervision
  • Strong problem solver
  • Computer skills (Word, Excel, PowerPoint)
  • Experience with SAP desired
