Vice President of Global Quality and Food Safety

Position Overview:

The Vice President of Global Quality and Food Safety for Johnsonville plays a critical role in ensuring the highest standards of quality and food safety across all of Johnsonville’s products and all global manufacturing operations. This senior leadership position is responsible for developing and executing global strategies that safeguard consumer health, enhance product integrity, delight our consumers, protect our brand, and comply with all regulatory requirements.  This leader will be on the Johnsonville Executive team reporting directly to the CEO.

 

Responsibilities:

Strategic Leadership and Management

  • In partnership with our Chief Supply Chain Officer, this role will develop and implement a comprehensive global quality and food safety strategy for Johnsonville.
  • Lead cross-functional teams in the US and internationally to ensure alignment with enterprise goals and regulatory standards.
  • Design and implement the FSQ organizational structure to optimize efficient and effective food safety and quality execution in service to E2E, customers and consumers.
  • Oversee the design and execution of quality assurance programs and initiatives across E2E.
  • Continuously improving processes and systems to enhance product quality and safety, globally.

Compliance and Regulatory Affairs

  • Ensure compliance with international, national, and local food safety regulations and industry standards.
  • Monitor changes in regulations and lead efforts to adapt practices accordingly.
  • Manage relationships with regulatory authorities and industry organizations in partnership with other government affairs functions.

Quality Assurance and Control

  • Establish and enforce quality control protocols across production facilities.
  • Conduct regular audits and inspections to ensure adherence to quality standards.
  • Develop and maintain documentation related to quality management systems.
  • Lead root cause analysis and corrective action / preventative action processes in response to quality issues and drive and monitor resulting operational improvement practices.

Food Safety and Risk Management

  • Identify potential food safety risks and develop mitigation strategies.
  • Implement robust food safety management systems and practices.
  • Ensure traceability and transparency throughout the supply chain.
  • Investigate and resolve food safety incidents and crises.
  • Serve as Incident Commander for safety/quality matters in Crisis Management Team.

Innovation and Continuous Improvement

  • Drive innovation in quality and food safety practices and technologies.
  • Promote a culture of continuous improvement and excellence.
  • Collaborate with R&D teams to integrate quality and safety considerations into product development.

Leadership and Team Development

  • Provide leadership, coaching, and development opportunities to quality and food safety teams.
  • Elevate talent throughout the organization to advance ownership of and action against world-class food safety and quality.
  • Foster a collaborative and inclusive work environment.
  • Ensure effective communication and coordination across global teams.
  • Drive ownership and accountability in the Quality organization with strong partnership of the Operations organization.

Education:

  • Bachelor's Degree in Engineering, Food Science, Microbiology, Chemistry, or a related field required; advanced degree preferred

Experience:

  • Minimum of 10 years of experience in quality assurance and food safety, preferably within the meat CPG industry.
  • Proven track record of leadership and exceeding expectations with a growth company with a global footprint.
