Vice President, US Retail Sales
Position Overview:
The Vice President of Sales will lead the U.S. Retail Sales Team, driving strategic growth by aligning key customers and internal stakeholders. This role requires a dynamic leader with extensive experience in the retail and CPG food/perishable sectors. Role reports to the President, U.S.
Responsibilities:
- Lead, coach, and mentor a team of sales directors and their teams in achieving sustained sales growth, implementing innovative sales strategies and tactics to meet growth goals and drive success for Johnsonville
- Build and sustain productive relationships with key decision-makers within retailers and developing action plans to strengthen customer relationships
- Develop and execute a 3-year Strategic Roadmap with key customers, incorporating financial objectives and shared strategic plan
- Monitor performance of company’s strategic plans and evaluate successes, risks, and opportunities and formulate plans to improve key performance indicators
- Proven ability to work through ambiguous situations, taking ownership of business results, gathering and analyzing information, developing alternative solutions, and working effectively across departments to solve problems
- Partner closely with the Commercial Planning Team to drive revenue growth management, sales strategy, and quantitative selling
- Collaborate with Marketing, Finance, Commercial Planning, and Supply Chain Leadership to ensure seamless execution and alignment of business goals
- Drive company demand signal through Integrated Business Planning (IBP) Process delivering an ever-increasing level of accuracy
Education
- Bachelor’s Degree required; MBA or master’s degree preferred, or equivalent job-related experience is required
Experience:
- 10+ years of proven success in building, training and developing a successful team of sales leaders in the food industry, required
- Extensive experience in the CPG food/perishable industry is required, with a strong preference for expertise in the meat sector
- Strong ability to communicate and collaborate effectively across departments to develop and execute goals and customer strategies required
- Must have substantial experience and expertise with Wal-Mart, with additional experience with Kroger, Albertson’s, or similar retailers strongly preferred
- Integrated Business Planning (IBP) experience preferred
- Customer Segmentation and Pricing Strategy Implementation preferred
Skills:
- Strong leadership & collaboration skills
- Excellent presentation, verbal and written communication skills
- Ability to use data to drive business decisions – strong understanding of promo/trade spend performance, margin management, P+L management
- Excellent developer of people, invested in the success of others
