Sr. International Accountant or International Accountant II

 

Position Overview:

This position is responsible for supporting Johnsonville’s international business accounting and compliance needs. You will leverage systems, accounting and business acumen to record and consolidate business transactions. You will utilize technical financial skills and leadership abilities to manage international compliance matters like audits, taxes and banking etc. You will have the opportunity to build strong relationships with foreign and local Johnsonville members, auditors, and professional consultants to provide support for Johnsonville’s international businesses. 

 

Responsibilities:

  • Financial close & consolidation
    • Lead international month-end close. Work with in-country members and third-party accountants to record foreign subsidiary activities and consolidate into Johnsonville’s financial statements in accordance with GAAP inter-company accounting.
    • Safeguard foreign assets through financial oversight by preparing and reviewing month-end financial reports with the International Business Unit and completing relevant account reconciliations.
    • Drive monthly close and other process improvements while leveraging technology as appropriate (SAP, BPC, and/or other relevant systems).
  • Statutory audits, taxes and compliance
    • Manage international statutory audit and tax filing timelines. Support statutory audits of foreign subsidiaries ensuring accuracy and compliance with reporting standards.
    • Collaborate with the legal team regarding international compliance matters.
    • Assist with transfer pricing studies and related process and policy documentation.
  • Business Support
    • Support International Business Unit on various business matters that have accounting and/or financial implications.
    • Ensure new international operations and/or acquired businesses are appropriately integrated into the finance processes and reporting.
    • Assist in the startup of new international businesses and/or legal entity closure.
  • Treasury and other projects
    • Provide treasury support for transactional and capital needs.
    • Lead international regulatory compliance cost center forecast and analysis.

 

 

Education:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting or Finance required
  • CPA, CMA or pursuing CPA or CMA preferred

 

Experience:

  • Minimum three (3) to five (5) years of corporate accounting or finance experience required
    • Position title upon hire (Accountant II or Senior) will be based on candidate’s length and scope of experience.
  • Strong technical knowledge of GAAP required and familiarity with IFRS desired
  • Previous international business support experience and/or public accounting experience desired

 

Skills and Competencies:

  • Demonstrated ability to form trusted relationships with business partners, including foreign subsidiary finance members and external global audit and tax providers
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills, including a desire to work with people of diverse cultural backgrounds 
  • Highly organized, detail oriented, and deadline driven with effective time management skills
  • Effective problem-solving and decision-making skills, with a focus on continuous improvement
  • Experience with financial consolidation processes and systems (SAP and BPC knowledge a plus)
  • Desire for continual growth and learning with strong leadership potential
