Environmental Health and Safety Internship

Summer 2025

 

As a Member of Johnsonville’s Environmental Health and Safety (EHS) Team the successful candidate will have the opportunity to gain valuable experience through the following duties:

 

  • Drive Safety culture of ownership and develop safety solutions to plant operations team
  • EH&S experience and compliance at a food manufacturing site, while gaining EH&S experience in an industrial setting
  • Performing project work across entire business which could include, Job Safety Analysis, Risk Assessments, and Hazard recognition activities
  • Capturing findings and document data into Velocity EHS software tool
  • Help drive solutions to Corrective actions and preventive actions to mitigate risks and hazards.
  • Assist with regulatory compliance by completing on the operations floors and provide real work experience working with multi-function teams to validate assessments
  • The intern will report to the Safety coordinator to provide schedule and direction for successful project completion. 

 

Education:

  • Candidate must currently be working towards a Bachelor’s degree in Environmental Health, Safety, Engineering or a related field from an accredited university; junior or senior status preferred.
  • 3.5 minimum GPA strongly preferred.

 

Experience:

  • Prior work experience preferred

 

Skills and Competencies:

  • Mentorship from experienced EH&S professionals with variety of backgrounds
  • Excellent computer skills including Excel proficiency
  • Able to prioritize competing priorities and deadlines
  • Desire to learn, grow and contribute in a team-based environment
  • Quick learner, ability to work independently
  • Must possess a drive for excellence
