Position Overview:

To help the Momence facility reach our goal to be the "Best Company in the World", a successful candidate will strategically plan, direct, and lead the implementation of safety programs and guidelines through member ownership.

Responsibilities:

• Create the "safest" company in the world through continuous improvement, ownership, member engagement, and drive
• Lead the facility safety effort through the creation, implementation and direction of processes and programs to meet operational needs while maintaining and managing safety compliance to world class safety standards
• Lead, design and implement environmental management systems to monitor and mitigate the environmental impact of the organization’s activities and ensure all organizational processes meet the required standards
• Oversee adherence to safety policies performing regular audits and addressing instances of non-compliance; compile detailed and comprehensive reports and maintain meticulous records as mandated by law
• Serves as the emergency response coordinator and works in conjunction with emergency services to conduct a thorough investigation of incidents to determine the root causes and preventive measures
• Facilitate safety education and training throughout the membership and during meetings making safety part of day-to-day activities, while inserting safety into every related process of our business
• Lead efforts to create and maintain a safety culture that leverages member ownership, involvement, and personal accountability
• Take an active role in the Corporate Safety Leadership team and facilitate the sharing of ideas between facilities at the corporate level (incorporate Johnsonville programs into Momence Packing practices) 
• Actively participate as a member of the Momence Core Team
• Facilitate the safety team to lead and ensure compliance with all governmental safety regulations, procedures, guidelines and best practices
• Develop and lead efforts on the attainment of all safety key performance indicators
• Lead safety compliance evaluations for facility specific requirements
• Manage Workers Compensation Claims and Property Insurance recommendations.
• Actively participate in continuous learning to grow knowledge and skills through classes, webcasts/seminars, OSHA compliance trainings

 Education:

• Bachelor’s Degree required – safety emphasis preferred

 Experience:

• 5 years of experience leading safety in a manufacturing environment preferred

 Skills and Competencies:

• A passion for safety that motivates others to want to succeed
• Proven leadership qualities in developing teams around safety, getting work done through others, meeting timelines, facilitating change and holding themselves and others accountable for safety results
• Proven track record of driving ownership to others and creating a “safety first” culture.
• Experience motivating individuals and teams to rally around safety KPI’s and complete upstream actions to promote world class safety
• Strong verbal and written communication skills
• Ability to prioritize and balance multiple ongoing tasks
• Strong technical knowledge of regulatory programs in safety
• Builds relationships based on trust and respect
• Proven track record of working with peers to create a cohesive team working towards common goals

Other Requirements:

• Ability to spend time on off shifts to evaluate and promote safety on a frequency basis to be determined by member and their coach

Coach for this position:                Director of Manufacturing Support

Travel:                                             10% of the time
