Pay: $22.73/hr
Hours: 6:20am - 3:40pm (Overtime based on production demands)

Position Overview:

WHAT IS DE-BONING? De-Boning is the department at Momence Packing where Members remove as much meat as possible from the sow’s carcass. The goal of De-boning is to remove all bones from the meat so that the meat can then be mixed with other ingredients to make it into brats, breakfast sausage and ground pork. There are a variety of different positions on the De-Boning Floor, but all of them require some form of handling the sow’s body or body parts.

The successful candidate will ensure compliance with safety, quality, and attendance requirements.  In addition, this candidate will establish and sustain effective relationships with all Members so that they may work together to promote innovation and cooperation in order to solve problems.

 

Responsibilities:

  • Cutting and preparing sow carcass for further processing
  • Removing hide and internal organs, trimming, and inspecting the sow’s carcass
  • Cleaning, Sharpening, and Maintaining knives, tools and equipment
  • Learn and perform several job functions in department at line speed
  • Maintain all applicable GMP (Good Manufacturing Practices) policies
  • Notify team leaders and/or maintenance of problems
  • Perform all jobs in a safe manner at line speed
  • Complete all other duties as assigned

Education:

  • High School Diploma or equivalent preferred

 Skills and Competencies:

  • Ability to perform responsibilities in a safe and efficient manner.
  • Communication.
  • Knife skills preferred but not required.
  • Decision making.
  • Prioritizing.

 Other Requirements:

  • PHYSICAL DEMANDS
    • Must be able to lift 50 pounds
    • Walking and/or standing throughout the shift
    • Bending and/or reaching throughout the shift
  • This job requires hands-on interaction with pig carcasses, along with various body parts and organs individually. We want to ensure that candidates for this position have a high enough comfort level with blood and internal organs of the sow.
  • TEMPERATURE - Will be exposed to wide variations in temperature depending on weather.
  • Ability to work with inside conditions that include exposure to moderate noise levels and moderate odor.
  • External Candidates Only: Ability to pass a pre-employment, post offer drug screen, physical, and background check.
