2nd Shift Maintenance Backup Team Leader

Holton, Kansas
As a Maintenance Backup Team Leader, you will not only build upon your skills as an Electro-Mechanical Technician, but you will also lead, motivate, drive results, and facilitate learning for a team of maintenance members to achieve the plant’s maintenance and reliability goals. You will manage daily maintenance activities, troubleshoot electrical and mechanical issues, set priorities for your team, and communicate with other maintenance and plant leaders.
Responsibilities:
- As a Backup Team Leader, you will complete all responsibilities of an Electro-Mechanical Technician, which include:
- Troubleshoot mechanical and electrical problems on all equipment in the plant (including some utility equipment)
- Apply Route Cause Analysis and problem-solving techniques to understand why equipment failure occurred and to improve performance and prevent future problems
- Complete assigned work on time and to standard
- Perform preventive maintenance work to prevent equipment failure
- Utilize predictive maintenance technology to predict equipment failure before it happens
- Develop healthy working relationships with other maintenance members and with production members throughout the plant to work together as a team
- Work on technical and maintenance projects (machining, fabrication, capital projects, outside contractors)
- Assist with new equipment installation or equipment relocation
- Enter and track all maintenance work in SAP
- Be a part of teams that discuss issues and implement ideas to improve the reliability and productivity of plant
- Prioritize safety and be a part of the plant’s safety culture
- Research parts required for work orders and repairs
- Maintain all work areas in a neat and orderly fashion
- Additionally, you will assist the Maintenance Team Leader in leading, motivating, and driving results for a team of maintenance members by completing the following:
- Lead, coach, and mentor a team of highly skilled Electro-Mechanical Technicians
- Ensure planned work schedules, preventive maintenance schedules, and all maintenance responsibilities are completed on time and to standard
- Set work priorities and provide direction to maintenance members
- Drive your team to accomplish reliability initiatives, including:
- Use Root Cause Analysis to find the cause of problems and issues
- Lead and provide input to PM Optimizations
- Implement and utilize predictive maintenance technologies
- Conduct Failure Mode and Effects Analysis
- Track and analyze the team’s maintenance performance metrics to drive improvement
- Develop relationships and communication with Maintenance and other Department Leaders
- Identify technical skill gaps and develop members to meet those needs
- Drive innovation and problem-solving within the team
- Build team chemistry and participation
- Create an environment that makes Johnsonville the Best Place to Work
- Create a culture of safety and ensure maintenance members are working safely
- Assist with continuous improvement and capital projects, especially those related to equipment and processes
- Act as the Maintenance Team Leader in their absence
- All other duties as assigned by the Team Lead and Maintenance Coordinator
Education:
- Associate’s degree in industrial maintenance technology or other technical discipline (or willing to pursue one) preferred.
Experience:
- At least 4 years of industrial maintenance experience
- Technical team leadership experience is preferred
- Certificates or training in Maintenance Management a plus
Skills and Competencies:
- Demonstrated electrical and mechanical knowledge and troubleshooting skills
- Commitment to personal growth and a proven ability to coach and mentor others to higher levels of responsibility and skills
- Strong interpersonal, written, and verbal communication skills
- Strong decision-making and prioritization skills to manage multiple tasks at a time
- Highly motivated self-starter with the drive to achieve results
- Proficient in Word, Excel, PowerPoint, SAP (or equivalent CMMS software), and Viziya (or equivalent maintenance scheduling software)

Hours: 2nd Shift – 3:00pm – 12:00am (Overtime as needed)
Locations: Holton, KS
