Position Overview

The primary responsibility of this role is to provide trailer movements between the Woodrow and Hager facilities in Denmark, WI. This position will also work with the dock and may be asked to drive forklift, operate pallet jacks, and do other tasks requested to support the warehouse team.

Responsibilities

Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following:

  • Movement of all semi-trailers from/to Woodrow and Hager facilities (to and from the yard and plant docks for receiving, shipping and trucking)
  • Responsible for completion of daily washing of tractors and trailers
  • Responsible for general trailer operations (fueling, unloading, temperature checks, etc.)
  • Other responsibilities including (e.g. yard security checks, trucking functions, etc.)
  • General trailer upkeep
  • Load and unload trucks following compancy policies
  • Review and follow daily schedules for multiple facilities
  • Follow all safety rules and regulations per established company policies.
  • Comply with all SQF requirements and procedures.
  • Comply with all Federal, State and Local regulations supporting the operation of a commercial motor vehicle.
  • Check received items to verify the correct product, and numbers were delivered and were received undamaged; enter product information, date and quantity, batch number information, etc. from packing slip onto the Receiving Log as necessary.
  • Load trucks properly for shipment of finished product per the Bill of Lading, determining what to ship and monitoring the code dates, item dates, number of full and partial pallets.
  • Ensure the correct paperwork is completed and accompanied by each shipment.
  • Stage product for the production lines and blenders as needed.
  • Receive inbound blend shipments, entering vat label date, time, license number, lot number, gross and net tare weight, and vat temperature information into the Blend Receiving Log.
  • Receive inbound blend shipments; unload trucks and deliver products to the appropriate locations.
  • Complete Raw Material Inspections of all inbound shipments.
  • Perform sanitation duties that include the following: sweep the palletizing and shipping coolers; clean walls, door frames, and support beams as time allows; mop and straighten both coolers; vacuum behind the forklift bump guards along racking; and clean vats as needed.
  • Perform all other duties as assigned.

Experience

Core qualifications:
•    Must be able to achieve forklift certification.
•    Acceptable driving record that meets company and DOT requirements
•    Class A Commercial Driver’s License
•    Minimum 21 years of age
•    100,000 miles driving experience or completion of a certified truck driving school.
•    2 years of recent OTR experience preferred.
•    Transportation experience in the refrigerated food industry preferred.

Skills

Communication Skills                               
Must have strong verbal and interpersonal communication skills.  Must have the ability to read and interpret documents such as Bills of Lading, safety rules, operating instructions, and procedure manuals.  Must have the ability to interface effectively with internal customers.  

 

Computer Skills
Must have solid computer proficiency with Word, Excel, Outlook, and the Internet.  

 

Mathematical Skills                               
Must have accurate basic math skills.

 

Reasoning Ability                               
Must have the ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, verbal or diagram form.  Must possess strong trouble shooting skills and exhibit strong judgment and decision-making skills.

 

Physical Demands 
While performing the duties of this job, the partner is frequently required to sit for extended periods; walk; sit and talk or hear. The partner is required to use hands to finger, handle, or feel and reach with hands and arms, with repetitive motions of hands, arms and shoulders.  Must be able to lift up to 50 lbs. on a regular basis. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, color vision, and depth perception.  

 

Work Environment 
The work environment characteristics described here are representative of those encountered while performing the essential functions of this job. There is a wide variation of temperatures ranging from 35° F to 100° F in the various production work areas.  The work environment in production is wet and slippery.  The noise level in the production work environment is usually loud. The office environment noise level is low.  Partners are required to wear frocks, hearing protection, slip-resistant footwear, and hairnets at all times while on the production floor, including the coolers and warehouse areas.
