Position Overview

Performs all activates related to the material handling functions for the company, providing supplies and raw material to the production line, completing inspections, paperwork, and maintaining accurate inventory records in compliance with all safety, food safety, quality, SQF, GMP and USDA requirements.

Responsibilities

  • Conduct a daily walk-through of the production areas, taking a visual inventory to determine supply needs, including boxes, salt, film, labels, pallets, tier sheets, collagen, etc.
  • Put away product from the dock to the appropriate locations.
  • Stage product for the production lines and blenders as needed.
  • Transfer finished goods from the South Wing cooler to the North Wing cooler if at capacity to avoid cooler overload.
  • Conduct physical inventory of the warehouse; complete and submit the appropriate paperwork.
  • Verify forklift equipment is in good operating condition prior to operating at the start of the shift following all established forklift safety procedures.
  • Perform sanitation duties that include the following: sweep the palletizing and shipping coolers; clean walls, door frames, and support beams as time allows; mop and straighten both coolers; and vacuum behind the forklift bump guards along racking.
  • Assists with rework activities as needed.
  • Provide backup assistance in Palletizing and production as needs dictate.
  • Perform all other duties as assigned by the supervisor.

Education

A minimum of a high school diploma or GED equivalency is normally required

Experience

Previous forklift experience is required Previous material handling experience in a manufacturing environment is strongly preferred.

Skills

Communication Skills

Must possess good verbal and interpersonal communication skills Must have the ability to read and interpret documents such as packing slips, bills of material, safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals.

Computer Skills

Basic computer proficiency is required Must be proficient with Excel and Outlook Previous experience with MAS 500 or related software is strongly preferred.

Mathematical Skills

Must have accurate basic math skills.

Reasoning Ability

Must have the ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, verbal or diagram form.

Physical Demands

While performing the duties of this job, the partner is frequently required to stand for extended periods; walk; sit and talk or hear. The partner is required to use hands to finger, handle, or feel and reach with hands and arms, with repetitive motions of hands, arms and shoulders. The partner must regularly lift up to 40# and periodically lift and/or move up to 50 #. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, far vision, color vision and depth perception.

Work Environment

The work environment characteristics described here are representative of those an encountered while performing the essential functions of this job. There is a wide variation of temperatures ranging from 35° F to 100° F in the various work areas. The work environment is wet and slippery most times. The noise level in the production work environment is usually loud Expediting Partners are required to wear frocks, hairnets, composite toed slip-resistant footwear, and hearing protection at all times on the production floor, including the coolers and warehouse Gloves, goggles, face shield, rain suits and rubber boots will be required at different times in the course of the work being performed.
