Position Overview
The Assistant Channel Manager is responsible for supporting the development and execution of channel strategies to drive sales growth, expand market share, and strengthen relationships with distributors, key customers, and business partners. The role works closely with internal stakeholders to identify new business opportunities, execute marketing initiatives, manage commercial performance, and ensure the achievement of revenue and profitability targets.
Responsibilities
Channel Development & Business Growth
- Support the development and execution of channel strategies to achieve sales, market share, and profitability objectives.
- Identify and develop new business opportunities, customer segments, and distribution channels.
- Build and maintain a healthy short-, medium-, and long-term sales pipeline aligned with business objectives.
- Conduct market research and competitor analysis to identify market trends and growth opportunities.
- Recommend and implement initiatives to strengthen the company's market presence and competitive position.
Sales & Account Management
- Develop and maintain strong relationships with distributors, key customers, retailers, and business partners.
- Support channel sales initiatives to increase product distribution, availability, and visibility.
- Address customer enquiries, feedback, and issues promptly to maintain a high level of customer satisfaction.
- Monitor channel performance and recommend actions to improve sales effectiveness.
Financial & Operational Management
- Support the preparation and management of sales and business development budgets.
- Monitor sales performance, profitability, and key performance indicators against business targets.
- Analyse sales reports and recommend corrective actions where necessary.
- Identify operational gaps and implement process improvements to enhance channel performance.
Proposal & Cross-Functional Collaboration
- Support the preparation and submission of business proposals, tenders, and RFP responses by coordinating with relevant internal stakeholders.
- Work closely with Sales, Marketing, Supply Chain, Finance, and other departments to ensure successful execution of commercial initiatives.
- Provide regular market intelligence, sales updates, and business recommendations to management.
- Stay informed of industry developments, competitor activities, and customer needs to support strategic decision-making.
Education
Minimum Diploma in Business, Marketing, Sales, or a related discipline
Experience
At least 5 years of sales or channel management experience, preferably within the FMCG, food & beverage, or related industry.
Skills
- Strong interpersonal, communication, presentation, and negotiation skills.
- Results-oriented with a proactive mindset and a proven ability to achieve sales targets.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to identify business opportunities and recommend effective solutions.
- Able to work independently while collaborating effectively with cross-functional teams.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office applications (Excel, PowerPoint, and Word).
Other Requirements
Possess a valid Singapore Class 3 driving licence and own a vehicle for business travel.
