Shipping Team Lead 1st Shift

As a member of our supply chain team, you’ll ensure our customers receive noticeably better service and that our products are delivered accurately and on time. With great attention to detail, while still seeing the big picture, you’ll ensure all elements of the distribution process are considered and accounted for. Additionally, you’ll assist our operations team in obtaining the lowest industry cost. Working closely with internal partners, customers and vendors, you’ll provide a seamless and hassle-free logistics process.
Position Overview
Pay Range: $30.87/hr - $37.01/hr
Hours: 6:00am – 3:00pm, Monday-Friday (Overtime as production demands).
The successful candidate will oversee the shipping department and ensure compliance with safety, quality, and attendance requirements. In addition, this candidate will establish and sustain effective relationships with all Members so that they may work together to promote innovation and cooperation in order to solve problems.
Responsibilities
• Coach, lead and develop a team of Members to consistently deliver great performance
• Lead, develop and initiate process improvement efforts
• Be able to conduct and lead effective pre-shift meetings
• Read and understand the production schedule
• Ability to create and implement new processes and procedures
• Drive PIV standing forklifts to move materials within the facility. This includes spending significant time in the freezer rotating product for storage and shipment
• Use handheld scanning devices to move materials within the SAP system
• Consistently handle “great tasting” sausage and raw material goods
• Have an impact on customer success by productively assembling customer orders and keeping order pickers supplied with necessary product
• Maintain the highest standards of detail as it relates to product specifications and quality
• Communicate with other departments regarding schedule changes
• Communicate and work with truck drivers for delivery and pickup of goods
• Manage day-to-day inventories to ensure FIFO is being utilized
Experience
• Minimum of 1-3 years of experience in leadership/supervisory role
• Basic Logistics experience desired
• SAP experience desired
Skills
• Fill out reports accurately and send to appropriate members
• Must be able to effectively communicate with all departments and members
• Exceptional organizational skills
• Positive role model and lives the Johnsonville Way
• Makes decisions and problem solves
• Be a safety advocate within the plant
• Understand receiving sheets and bills of lading
• Understand shop orders and material status inquiry options
• Ability to read, speak, and write English.
• Must be at least 18 years old
Physical Demands:
• Must be willing to work in very cold working conditions pulling product (our freezer gets as cold as -20°F)
• Must be able to lift and hand grip up to 40 lbs, carry 10 lbs, and pull 20 lbs
• Walking and/or Standing throughout the shift
• Bending and/or Reaching throughout the shift
Other Requirements
• Ability to pass a pre-employment, post offer drug screen, physical and background check
