Position Overview

Johnsonville has an excellent opportunity for an outstanding individual who shares Johnsonville’s vision for a zero-loss state and life-long learning.  In this position you will get to informally coach the plant manufacturing members in reliability-based tools to include focused improvement skills such as Root Cause Analysis and Lean/Six Sigma. This role is also instrumental in developing the skills of the plant membership to drive closer towards a zero-loss state. The skills, talents, knowledge, and indirect leadership of the successful candidate will be utilized by creating necessity to learn around reliability and continuous improvement tools and practices, which will widen the circle of engagement and ownership across Johnsonville. The Reliability Excellence coordinator will be responsible for providing input to manufacturing line design and optimizing the current line process to improve safety, quality, cost, and morale. The goal of Reliability Excellence is to improve business results and the quality of life of our production team.

Responsibilities

  • Mentor all facility pillar owners through the Reliability Excellence Journey
  • Implement the reliability vision by executing key strategies that engage the membership and deliver results: examples include leading problem solving, coaching CIL’s on the floor, improving workflow, and mentoring members to find abnormalities or defects.
  • Promote the standard work process, culture, and implementation to enhance Johnsonville’s Operating Model
  • Foster the learn-do-teach methodology within the facility
  • Work with Operational Leaders to impact and influence to create the necessary behavioral change to achieve breakthrough results.
  • Partner with global FI team to determine correct speed, takt times, and crew size for the lines.
  • Demonstrate a commitment to personal learning by using and teaching best practices in Reliability.
  • Be the deployment champion for Problem Solving methods and techniques, and lead efforts within the facility to solve problems.
  • Identify trends and process variation in conjunction with the Operations Team
  • Conduct/facilitate ongoing facility gap assessments around reliability efforts.  
  • Set goals and objectives, both personal and as a plant team member, to achieve superlative performance.

Education

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Business or Engineering required; Will consider candidates with substantial and relevant work experience
  • Reliability Certification preferred, i.e., CMRP, CRE, CRL

Experience

  • Minimum of 3 years Reliability or Continuous Improvement (Six Sigma and Lean) experience with measurable results preferred.
  • Strong math skills: proficient with statistical analysis required
  • Lean Six Sigma Green Belt or Black Belt preferred
  • TPM Experience preferred
  • Demonstrated ability to successfully facilitate cross-functional projects in a team-based environment is required
  • Project and Portfolio management experience preferred

Skills

  • Computer skills (proficient in Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, & Power BI)
  • Demonstrated leadership and facilitation skills with the ability to widen the circle of engagement within the membership
  • Strong project management skills with demonstrated success on safety, quality, people or productivity
  • Ability to conduct line balancing, cycle time analysis, and value stream mapping.
  • Communicates effectively – strong written, verbal and facilitation skills
  • Strong critical thinking and problem-solving skills
  • Strong collaborator who works toward personal, team, and company goals in a solution focused manner
  • Demonstrated learning agility and curiosity

  • Strong technical literacy; quickly learns new applications and tools

Other Requirements

  • Flexibility to work across shifts as well as across departments & plants
  • Willingness to travel (maybe 10%)
