Position Overview
Starting Hourly Rate: $27.86 plus shift premium. Skill block completion will increase hourly rate.
Pay Range: $27.86 - $29.15 per hour.
Hours: Hours will vary depending on workload (may get done earlier or later)
Sunday Night: 9:00pm – 12:00am
Monday-Thursday: 3:30pm – 1:00am
Friday: 12:00pm – 4:00pm
The successful candidate will be able to unload sows from trucks, move and handle livestock within the barn and pen areas, identify and monitor truck conditions, track sow loads in SAP, and utilize chemicals for full barn cleaning.
Responsibilities
• Proper Humane Animal Handling is critical to this position. A successful candidate will understand that the animals always need to be treated with respect.
o The use of raddle paddles to move animals is required
• Ability to perform responsibilities in a safe and efficient manner
• Must comply with GMPs (Good Manufacturing Practices), USDA regulations and safety rules always
• Clean the barn area using a high-power hose and utilization of chemicals
• Unloading of animal trucks
Education
• High School Diploma or equivalent preferred
Experience
• A general understanding of animal behavior required
• Past Animal Handling experience strongly preferred
• Excellent attendance and performance record required
• General computer knowledge preferred
• SAP knowledge preferred
Skills
• Good verbal communication skills
• Good decision making and problem-solving skills
• Detail-oriented
• Ability to work independently with minimal supervision
• Based on business necessity, must be proficient in English.
Physical Demands:
• Walking and/or Standing throughout the shift
• Bending and/or Reaching throughout the shift
• Must be able to hand grip/lift up to 50 lbs, push 30 lbs, and pull 60 lbs
Other Requirements
• Must be at least 18 years old
