 We can’t do what we do best – make great-tasting sausage products – unless our equipment is reliably running at its best. Members of our maintenance team keep our machines, lines and facilities running. You and your teammates will be responsible for all production and industrial refrigeration equipment, as well as our electrical controls systems. You’ll also work closely with our engineers and production members to make important upgrades to our production machinery, as we innovate and grow the business.

Position Overview

Pay Range: $33.95/hr - $43.65/hr + $1.50 Shift Premium
Hours: 2:00pm - 10:30pm, Monday - Friday (Overtime as production demands) 


You will be directly involved in the Reliability and Maintenance of the equipment and processes we use to produce our great tasting sausage.  This position will not only be involved in maintaining current equipment, but it will allow you to apply Reliability Centered Maintenance (RCM) techniques and concepts on our way to helping Johnsonville become the "Best Company in the World." 

Responsibilities

•    Preventive maintenance of ammonia equipment
•    Preventive maintenance of all other facility utility equipment included but not limited to HVAC equipment, air compressors, hot water, water softeners and wastewater
•    Be responsible for the performance and safety of refrigeration, HVAC equipment and all other facility utility equipment
•    Troubleshoot electrical and mechanical problems on all plant refrigeration/HVAC equipment and all other facility utility equipment
•    Coordinate work with outside vendors
•    Assist with new utility equipment installation or equipment relocation
•    Maintain computerized PM program and Ammonia PSM program
•    Maintain facility and equipment to meet Johnsonville, OSHA and U.S.D.A. standards.
•    Improve uptime on plant equipment through machine modification, layout adjustments, and general machine maintenance.
•    Maintain all utility areas in a neat/orderly fashion.
•    Must be able to complete PSM documentation paperwork accurately
•    Must be able to maintain all GMPs while working (Good Manufacturing Practices)

Education

•    High School Diploma or equivalent preferred

Experience

•    Basic Electrical experience/understanding required. (PLC’s a plus)
•    At least two years of maintenance experience is required for external candidates (welding, machining, metal fabrication skills)
•    3-5 years’ experience in ammonia refrigeration/HVAC required for external candidates
•    SAP and/or Stellar experience with PSM program preferred

Skills

•    Must be able to obtain Operator one certification in the first 18 months.
•    Must be able to obtain Operator level 2 in 3 years.
•    Strong written and verbal communication skills required
•    Strong math background is required
•    Committed to providing a high level of detail and pride towards equipment maintenance
•    Willing to be a member of Ammonia Response team and ability to meet requirements of team
•    Must be willing to share skills to help others develop and possess excellent communication and customer service
•    Member must be highly motivated with high expectations
•    Basic computer skills needed
•    Based on business necessity, must be proficient in English.

 

Physical Demands:
•    Must be able to lift, carry and hand grip up to 65 lbs, and pull up to 20 lbs 
•    Walking and/or Standing throughout the shift
•    Bending and/or Reaching throughout the shift

•    Ability to pass a pre-employment, post offer drug screen, physical and background check
