Position Overview

As part of the Operations Performance Improvement (OPI) Team, you will support both our on-campus and remote manufacturing facilities. Leverage your engineering/manufacturing knowledge and experiences to continually improve/optimize processes and help drive focused improvement throughout Johnsonville’s manufacturing network.

Responsibilities

  • Drive improvements in safety, quality, yield and efficiency throughout the manufacturing network by teaching/driving problem solving proficiencies
  • Lead and participate in cross-functional teams for the ongoing improvement of equipment and processes
  • Collaborate with the Reliability (TPM) Team to support Focused Improvement Pillar work
  • Build partnerships with Operations, Food Safety/Quality, R&D and Engineering to ensure successful implementation of Process Optimization projects
  • Monitor sustainment of process changes 
  • Conduct statistical analysis and simulation studies as needed, using software such as Minitab, Glentech, Arena or others
  • Engage members in data collection and ownership of changes/tracking
  • Complete line/equipment studies to understand current and theoretical throughput/capacity
  • Complete time studies to develop production staffing standards across the manufacturing network
  • Along with the Plant Maintenance/Engineering Coordinators and Project Engineers, make recommendations for use/improvement of equipment

Education

  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Business, Operations or a related field required
  • Six Sigma and/or Lean Manufacturing certification required

Experience

  • Minimum of 7 years of experience working in/with a manufacturing facility
  • Minimum of 7 years of experience utilizing Statistics and/or Statistical Process Control with demonstrated results

Skills

  • Knowledge of process optimization tools and simulation software
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Strong data analysis skills
  • Effective problem solving and decision-making skills
  • Knowledgeable in Reliability (TPM) concepts
  • Knowledgeable/application of time and motion studies
  • Demonstrated project management skills
  • Proficient computer skills (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Minitab)
  • Excellent facilitation skills; comfortable with facilitating root cause analysis exercises, Kaizen events, etc.
  • Ability to teach and transfer knowledge of process changes
  • Proven self-starter; takes the initiative to find/manage opportunities
  • Ability to prioritize and manage multiple tasks in a fast-paced, rapidly changing environment with minimal supervision

Other Requirements

Travel: Approximately 30% of your time
