Distribution Coordinator

As a member of our supply chain team, you’ll ensure our customers receive noticeably better service and that our products are delivered accurately and on time. With great attention to detail, while still seeing the big picture, you’ll ensure all elements of the distribution process are considered and accounted for. Additionally, you’ll assist our operations team in obtaining the lowest industry cost. Working closely with internal partners, customers and vendors, you’ll provide a seamless and hassle-free logistics process.
Position Overview
The Distribution Coordinator has responsibility for managing the business relationship with one or more of the following: Lineage Logistics, United States Cold Storage, Interstate Warehousing and Americold Logistics and their associated warehouse operations utilized by Johnsonville. As a Distribution Coordinator, you are responsible for all warehouse activity associated with the Johnsonville account (inventory, inbound / outbound activity) and will leverage the existing contract(s) to build network relationships, ensuring the success of Johnsonville to “win on shelf” against our competitors. You will use existing KPIs and develop new ones as needed, to measure, track, and improve the performance of our 3PLs. This is an excellent opportunity to showcase your independent decision-making, analytical, project management, leadership, and people management skills.
Responsibilities
- Manage the performance of your Distribution Center(s), ensuring the 3PL operation(s) has policies, procedures, systems, equipment, and trained and sufficient levels of staffing to meet the needs of the Johnsonville business.
- Hold Distribution Center(s) accountable to meeting our scorecard metric targets.
- Regularly visit and audit the 3PL operations.
- Take responsibility for preparing annual capital and operating budgets for your individual Distribution Center location(s); perform analysis of monthly spending reports and take action to ensure actual spending is equal to or less than budget.
- Perform strategic planning and collaboration with your Distribution Center(s) to ensure future capacity and service requirements are achieved.
- Lead and participate in cross-functional projects such as new Distribution Center facility start-ups, the roll-out of new service offerings, implementing strategies to meet customer mandates, new product introductions, etc.
- Partner with Johnsonville Sales, Brokers, and Customers to develop mutually beneficial supply chain initiatives.
- Use your knowledge, experience, and analytical skills to create a pipeline of ideas that continuously improve results: warehousing and supply chain cost, OS&Ds, inventory accuracy, truck turn times, on-time delivery, order fulfillment, and audit results.
Education
- Bachelor’s Degree in Supply Chain, Logistics, Business Administration or related field is required
Experience
- Three (3) years of experience in distribution center operations, supply chain, or related logistics functions is required
- ERP and WMS systems experience preferred
Skills
- Demonstrated ability to manage vendor/business relationships
- Strong interpersonal skills, including excellent oral and written communication
- Organization, flexibility, and attention to detail is a must
- Project Management skills involving multiple, simultaneous projects
- Demonstrated strong analytical and problem solving skills
- History and desire for personal growth and development
- Demonstrated drive and ability to create “new and better” through innovation
- High proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (particularly Excel) and MS Project
- Knowledge of Lean and Six Sigma methodologies is preferred
