 We can’t do what we do best – make great-tasting sausage products – unless our equipment is reliably running at its best. Members of our maintenance team keep our machines, lines and facilities running. You and your teammates will be responsible for all production and industrial refrigeration equipment, as well as our electrical controls systems. You’ll also work closely with our engineers and production members to make important upgrades to our production machinery, as we innovate and grow the business.

Position Overview

As an Electro-Mechanical Technician, you will be directly involved in the Reliability and Maintenance of the equipment and processes we use to produce our great tasting sausage. You will conduct daily maintenance activities, troubleshoot electrical and mechanical issues, and communicate with other members to help Johnsonville to become the “Best Company in the World.” 

Responsibilities

  • Troubleshoot mechanical and electrical problems on all equipment in the plant (including some utility equipment) 
  • Apply Root Cause Analysis and problem-solving techniques to understand why equipment failure occurred and to improve performance and prevent future problems 
  • Perform preventive maintenance work to prevent equipment failure 
  • Utilize predictive maintenance technology to predict equipment failure before it happens 
  • Develop healthy working relationships with other maintenance members and with production members throughout the plant to work together as a team 
  • Work on technical and maintenance projects (machining, fabrication, capital projects, outside contractors) 
  • Assist with new equipment installation or equipment relocation 
  • Enter and track all maintenance work in SAP 
  • Be a part of teams that discuss issues and implement ideas to improve the reliability and productivity of plants. 
  • Prioritize safety and be a part of the plant’s safety culture 
  • Research parts required for work orders and repairs 

Education

  • Technical Diploma in Industrial Maintenance Technology or other technical discipline 

Experience

  • At least 2 years of industrial maintenance experience 
  • Preferred: 
  • Certifications or training in mechanical or electrical systems 
  • Experience with low and high voltage electrical systems 
  • Experience with Programmable Logic Controllers (PLCs) 
  • Knowledge of conveyors, motors, bearings, gearboxes

  • Must be able to lift 50 pounds 
  • Must be able to work in varying temperature conditions, both cold and hot
